Molly Jane

Lulu and I drove to Des Moines yesterday to see six day old Molly Jane. I took a bunch of pictures. Mike and Maggie are doing great, and Molly is a great baby. She is so easy going. I can't wait she and Lulu are running around together.

Maggie is in labor today. Pray for her and her little girl.

If you want updates, her husband is twittering them (McGillMike). I will let you know when she makes her appearance.

***UPDATE****

Thanks for all of your prayers.

Did someboday say 13 months?

My little sweetheart is 13 months old. She is no longer a baby. She says a few words: Hi, mama, dada, 'ama (grandma), yaya (Nanny), kitty, Tuni, light, pretty, Lance. She also says baaa, woof, tries to say quack and can growl. She says a lot of other things but I am not sure what they mean. She can nod yes and shake her head no. It amazes me how much she understands of what I am saying to her. The other day I asked her to pick up a hat and bring it to mama...and she did.

She is a great sleeper. She is a great eater. She has a wonderful temperament and is almost always smiling and happy. She is often mischievous and/or naughty on purpose like when I say "no" and she smiles at me and then does exactly what I have told her not to do.

She walks everywhere and gets into everything. Lately she has been throwing toys into garbage cans and toilets. I guess she really just likes to throw things. She is also a climber. She likes to try to get in and out of things like wagons, and on things like benches and couches.
Whenever the phone rings, her ears perk up and she looks around and says, "hi dada." She also likes to carry around phones and talk into them.

I feel like God made me for this purpose; not just to be a mom, but to be her mom. I love her more everyday. She is just so fun to be around. Hard to believe 14 months ago I didn't like babies yet...

Daily Life with the Girl

I think she likes her new chair...She seems very comfortable and relaxed.
She is also very modest. She likes to ride around in her doll stroller.
Lee spoils the crap out of her. He lets her pick flowers wherever they are.
That mean lady at Menards tried to take her toys away.

I found my camera cord this morning...Yay. It was in the couch cushions. So I will have plenty more to add soon.

Showering with Maggie

I guess if Maggie won't blog about her showers, I have to...

Shower #1
Maggie and her cute mom at a baby shower in Des Moines. She drove up from Kansas to attend. I hadn't seen her since Maggie's wedding; I loved it.
Maggie opening all of her goodies for the baby.
This was Maggie with her mom at 34 weeks.
Maggie's grandma, cousin in law, cousin, Maggie, aunt, and mom.
Shower #2 at Maggie's in laws in The Middle of Nowhere, Iowa. At Maggie's request, the Girl was in attendance. She had fun hanging out with Maggie and rocking in the chair. Maggie at 35 weeks.

She refused to be still or quiet and much of our time was spent chasing her. She even got tired and flopped on the ground.

This was how our time at the shower ended...outside where should couldn't be disruptive.

Now the only thing to do it wait a couple of weeks Lulu's new BFF to be born.

Here and there with a one year old

If you enlarge this picture, you can see how truly snaggled her teeth really are; she has 3 crooked ones on the bottom and 4 perfect ones on top.
A beautiful rainbow. You could see the entire arch and a few seconds later you could see its shadow making it a double rainbow.
We had her 12 month doctor's appointment complete with shots. She did okay, but she did not enjoy getting her blood drawn. She screamed bloody murder and I was glad Lee was there to hold her while I cringed in the hall.

After her appointment, we were invited to join the big kids at the Iowa Children's museum. It was our first visit and she loved every moment (2+ hours of playing). She must not be very bright because she kept going up to this mural and patting the geese saying, "baaaaa." The poor girl thought they were sheep (they are white and fluffy, I guess).

She also explored the inside of a refrigerator at the Pizzeria.

The whole group shot.
She has now learned how to open the cupboards in the kitchen. She has also learned how to take the childproof latches off too. She is a tricky little sucker. The other day she came waddling in carrying a stir fry pan. I don't see any sign of remorse in her expression.
