A helpful smile in every aisle...

So...the other day, I was at HyVee (our grocery store here in Iowa) with the girl. I was walking to the produce section when a man wearing a sleeveless shirt walked out of the deli area and stopped to talk to the girl. He was smiling at her and talking to her and she was smiling right back at him. He asked about her age and such.

Then he turned to the side and pointed at his left upper arm and showed me the tattoo of his 3 elementary age sons' faces and names. It was huge; from his shoulder to his elbow. What was I to say? SO, I politely asked how old they are now. They are 21, 23, and 25 if you were wondering.

Then he pulled down the neck of his shirt to display his entire right pec. It was his mom and dad with a large banner reading, "in loving memory" (may they rest in peace). How Sweet!

It was quite a morning at the grocery store. Very friendly. You have to love Iowa.

Maybe overly friendly!

thank goodness he didn't memorialize any loved ones in any x-rated spots.

which Hy-V? The produce man on at the Johnson Ave one is 70 if he's a day :) Atleast Lulu won't be scared of body art :) My kids always wonder why old people color on themselves with markers.

He didn't work there. He was a patron of the deli.

oops I guess skimming while chatting on the phone means I don't quite get the details right. Sorry :)

That is awesome! Did he inspire you to get a tattoo of Lulu? :)

Happy Mother's Day, Karoline! Hope you had a lovely, relaxing day :)
