Advice

Good morning, ladies (especially experienced moms)!

I think that it is about time to have my blog serve a purpose. Being that I have about 12 weeks left as a selfish childless person, I thought I should start thinking about what I will need for the baby.

I need some advice. I am going to throw out a topic and you all please leave me your opinion and why.

Today's topic: baby monitors
brand? features? help?

b-day

When you get married you think about a lot of things. But...sometimes the little things don't get a lot of attention and you don't even notice them until you are married.

Example: The Celebration of Birthdays.

In Lee's family, birthday are not a big deal. Last Sunday I asked Lee's mom if they had any plans for Lee;s birthday and she said, "Oh, that is this week, isn't it? Which day is it again?" On the other hand, my family had been wondering about birthday plans for a couple weeks.

So... needless to say, Lee doesn't really get too excited about his birthday. Here is a picture of the 27 year old birthday boy.

Nanny got him an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and even had his name written on it.

Here is the singing. Notice that there is NCAA basketball on in the background and all of the boys are more interested in that than the cake or celebration.

Please Vote

Lee's little brother played soccer with a PDL (Professional Development League) team last summer. It is a semi-pro team for college kids. He is returning to play with the team this summer.

If you have a second, please click on this link and vote for him (Lance R.) in the fan poll about returning players at the bottom left. Thanks.

Dog Day

On Sunday we went out to my in-laws farm. The occasion was Lee's little brother, Lance, coming home from college for spring break. And of course being the day before St Patrick's Day (and the favorite meal of both Lee and Lance), we had corned beef and cabbage (blech).

It was darn-near 40 degrees and sunny, so we felt the need to be outside. Lance was playing with nephew Jared. It looked to me like the 10 week old rottweiler (my sister-in-law's newest acquisition) was trying to eat Jared while Lance was smiling for the camera, but that is just me...

My in-laws have 3 outdoor dogs (2 St Bernards and an Appenzeller) and an indoor dog (a affenpincher). lance was getting some love from all 3 outside dogs.

Apparently the 40 degree heatwave was too much for Lily to take. She found some snow and some shade.

This is my favorite face. This is the sweetest dog I have ever met, Daisy. Lee raised her.
For all of you dog-haters, feel free to skip this post. I just couldn't resist all of the dogs being around with my camera so handy...

Growing Belly

By special request...here are the belly pictures. These pictures were taken at week 25ish. I am feeling pretty good now. The morning sickness has been gone since about week 18. I had a cold/sinus infection for about 3 weeks, but now that is gone as well. If I could just take a nap everyday i think I would be happy.

I am also a firm believer in the "Bella Band." It is like a tube top for your belly. It covers the panel part of maternity pants as well as look like an undershirt. Also, before I was wearing maternity pants, it held my regular pants up even though they were unbuttoned (and maybe sometimes partially unzipped...).

Also...remember how I mentioned that girls' tennis started last week. Here are a couple of pictures of the mass of bodies we made run and condition in the gym last week.
At my school, you don't have to take PE if you are out for a sport...I wonder why we have so many girls out for tennis every year? We are down 20 from last season, but we are still knocking on the door of 90 girls. Only about 20 of them know hold to hold a racquet and can keep score without a refresher course.

Nothing

I apologize for my lack of blogging. I don't have much to report.

I am now about 25 weeks and really showing. The baby moves all of the time, but most often from early evening until bed. I sleep a lot. I got 12 hours of sleep Saturday night and then took a 2.5 hour nap Sunday afternoon. High School tennis started this week. We have been conditioning in the gym all week due to the piles of snow and ice on the courts. It has been over 40 for the past 3 days, so it should be long until we can be outside.

Maybe something exciting will happen and I will blog it...don't hold your breath.

Aebleskiver Dinner

Last night I joined 9 ladies and trekked north to dine on Danish food. My oldest sister was also there. I brought the camera and took some pictures, but she is much more blog-punctual, so check out her account. I won't bore you by duplicating the pictures. I did go behind the scenes to check out how the "masters" do it. I think I picked up some new techniques. I promise to improve.
