We got Graco... and are very pleased. We got the whole package - double stroller, single stroller, car seats, high chairs, play pen... the babies actually slept in the play pen at first. The car seats are bigger than the other ones I've seen, but still fairly lightweight. They come in and out of the base & strollers very easily and are easy to maneuver. Also, everything's easy to assemble (I was able to put together one of the highchairs! Amazing!) The strollers fold up easily and are manageable... even the double. So all that to say... I recommend Graco... we've had a good experience so far! A side note... check out www.onestepahead.com for some great baby stuff... in this area, the car seat leveler is very useful :)
Okay..okay. We used both the Graco infant seat and the Graco Toddler seat. Now we have moved onto and Eddie Bauer toddler seat that converts to a booster seat at 40lbs.
We bought a Britax toddler seat..however it did not fit inside our car so we returned it. I assumed everything was one size fits all...but I guess it's not.
I wish that we had a Babies R Us here in IA! They told us how to decide how we wanted to carry it. Triangle at top was for your hand, but the straight bar was for in your elbow.
I would get one that had a tightening "button" easy to get to. We loosen the straps to pull them out and them tighten it for the car ride. Makes getting in and out so much easier!
We have the whole Graco thing and also like it a lot.
These posts are fun - man I really think I do want another baby soon, but don't tell my husband!
Graco Quattro Tour stroller with carseat - it's awesome. I also loved having a carseat cover that I could take off and wash. Katie found a cool one at Last Chance.
I have heard that Britax is the safest. Does the best in all of the tests, according to consumer reports, We however used the Graco. Hee! It was great. I also really like my convertable car seat. It is a seat that is rated for 5-30 pounds. It is rear facing for your infant, turns around for your toddler. I still used the infant carrier seat, but when the got big enough, moved them to the rear facing convertable seat. My kids hated the infant seat after 6 months because they wanted to sit more upright. I am also in the minority that would rather carry the 6 mo+ baby, than the car seat. Sorry for rambling.
Graco is awesome! The Pegs and Britax are so overrated. Also, go with the sturdy stroller. You will be glad to have the big basket and cup holders.
When you buy a regular seat, the Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3 in 1 Convertible Car Seat is great. The ease of moving the straps up and down is awesome. (We have three of them!)
I love our Britax seats. We have a Roundabout and a Marathon, both are convertable and start at 5 lbs going up to 40 and 65. The boys sleep awesome in them. It has been a big deal to us because of all the long car trips we have taken, the kids are comfy for our 3 day, 8 hour journeys. And I like that Sage at almost 4 is still in a 5 point harness, maybe it is the helicopter mom in me!

Lenny just held her in the back seat.

Yes, the only advice I have is an easily washable one... you know, for all the puke and poop you'll have to clean up. Welcome to mommyhood! :)
Man, I am SO MUCH HELP. You're so very welcome.
STAY AWAY FROM the Eddie Bauer brand...way heavy!! I ended up with a Graco too & I love it!
