Bullied x2

Bullied yet again... I need a stronger backbone or a supportive husband...dang.

When we were in Chicago for Junie's 3rd birthday celebration, Lulu went swimming for the first time at the hotel. I had talked to the Mommy and Me lady about it and she gave me some advice. She said that infants shouldn't be exposed to high level of chlorine until about 9 months. Katie made fun of me. Lee made fun of me. I lost.
She isn't so sure about it.
After a few seconds of floating around with her dad, she was ready to get out; so ready that she lunged out of his arms and tried to do a belly flop. Her dad and her aunt Katie were not on my good list for a few minutes. Poor girl got chlorine water all over her face.
Lots of mournful wails for out little sweetheart.

On a side note, please pray for me. I sprained a muscle in my back Sunday morning. I saw the doctor this morning and I am not supposed to lift, sit, or bend over. So...that leaves standing or lying flat. Hmmm. Please pray for a speedy recovery so I can get back to normal life and being about the take care of the girl myself without any pain. Thanks.

More to Love...

In her first non-onesie shirt:
I think the onesies have worked like baby Spanx.
Lisa, our favorite server at our favorite pizza place. Does Lulu look like a Louis to anyone?

Neglected Children

Not everyone in our house is thrilled about the new baby...Our oldest babies, the cats, have been craving a little more attention. How better to do that than hang out where the new baby does...her room.

Helmet has been warming the changing pad for the girl.
And Yoda has been warming up the chair for me. Aren't they thoughtful? Don't worry, they have yet to get into her crib, but my guess is that they will with time.

Lee was talking on the phone (and he always paces when he talks), so I put the girl in his arms and away they went. I think my poor girl got a little tired. Probably a pretty even combo of motion, a heartbeat and her dad's voice lulled her to sleep.

New Tricks

Thursday at Mommy and Me, Lulu learned a new skill. She was sitting in front of me and I realized that she was doing it all by herself; no help from mom. I even tapped the arm of the mom sitting next to me to look. I had to have a witness in case she never did it again. When we got home we did it a little more. She does pretty well unless, of course, she smiles and that throws off her balance and she tips over.
She and her dad were twinnies in navy for church. By the way, do you like her shoes? Suri Cruise is her inspiration.

Any without further ado, new trick #2...

Friday Lulu learned how to roll over. She had always gotten stuck with one of her arms above her. I thought the roll was a fluke, but now anytime you put her on her stomach she rolls. She can even get her hands out if they are stuck at her sides.

On a side note: some babies coo, some growl, mine roars.

On a sad note: we used our last size 2 diaper yesterday. Where did my baby go?

Girl has feet.

Who knew? She found them and hasn't let go of them since. We are trying to work on the modesty issue, but she likes to grab both feet and pull them into the splits while lying on her back. She is very proud of herself.
By the way, all of you anal retentive people will understand how hard my life is...I have struggled to find something that goes with her "Wednesday" day of the week socks. They are a hard color to match. I also have a difficult time making sure she wears the correct outfit so her socks say the correct day. That is normal, right?

Q and A

Q. What do these two people have in common?

A. If you answered bulging forearms, you would be correct.

This is yet another hand me down from our clotheshorse cousins (Thank you Amelia and Haddie). Katie was telling me how cute it looked on Amelia, so I thought we would try it. It is a woven shirt, not a knit. That being said, it does give or stretch at all. I put a onesie on the girl because it was cold outside and then tried to put our "new" shirt over it. It didn't go so well. I always knew we had some thunder thigh issues and even a little belly bulge, but who knew the girl had such large (muscular, I'm sure) forearms. Let's hope this is not where she carries her weight as she gets older.

It was battle; lots of yelling and struggling. Finally we got it on. It was a little tight, but who needs to bend their elbows? Seems a little selfish to me.

And at the risk of not being able to get it back on, we left it on for our afternoon nap. Poor girl. Maybe she has a future as an arm-wrestler...

He's Here

Kristy and Drew had their 3rd baby boy, Levi Gunnar S., tonight at 7:19pm. He weighed 7lbs 150z and was 19.75 inches long. Kristy is doing well. She said she pushed twice and he arrived. Praise the Lord. I am sure she will update when she gets a chance.

weekend

Amelia got to spend some quality time with her cousins and her Nanny and Papa. Nanny thought it would be fun to get all of the girls matching pink dresses. We couldn't wait for the photo op.
Lucia Louise, Amelia Louise, and Esther (Haddie) Louise.
As I have mentioned before, Lee loves Christmas. He has already purchased Christmas Lullabies for Lulu's bedtime pleasure. Sunday was a cold, November day, so after church Lee asked, "Can we stop and buy a tree for the girl's room?" Of course I said yes. So...I put it together and added some lights. We even put a fire in the fireplace for the afternoon and evening. You know there are only 44 days left to enjoy the season.

PS There are two radio stations playing Christmas music already.

A Third Baby Chunk!

My BFF, Chunk, will be having her 3rd little boy soon (hopefully today). Pray for a safe and speedy delivery for her and her new Baby Chunk.
This was us last August when she came to visit and meet the girl.

By the way, the nickname Chunk, began when we were teenagers. She is the last person in the world you would ever call Chunk; I think that I why it is okay. During the summer we were swimming and just goofing around. She was about 5'9" 100 pounds so I ironically called her Chunk...it stuck.

So for the second half of her life she has been known as Chunk to me and my entire family. One time Scott asked "how is Chunky?" That just seemed/sounded mean, but Chunk doesn't...hmm...

Anyway, pray for her!

Beached Whale

Early this morning we were playing and she was watching the snow (yep, I said snow) flurries out the window(Hard to believe I was wearing sandals on Wednesday and there are flurries this morning). She must have gotten bored and wanted to find her own activity. We have been trying to roll a little bit, but she is mostly content just to lay on her back. So far she has been unsuccessful (unless you count Lee putting her on her stomach with one arm halfway pushing her over already, but that is more like tipping over).

Voting Outfit

Tuesday we put on our most appropriate voting attire, jumped in the stroller and walked to our precinct. It wasn't very busing and we got right in. As cute as she looked, our team lost (I could wax on and on about it, but what is done is done and now I have to support/respect our president even if I don't like him...ugh). Dang!

Lately I have come to notice that I am a boring blogger. I used to be snarky and clever and now I post cute picture of my girl. I swear I am still persnickety and witty with lots of bratty comments. I will try harder to post about something other than my 17 pound moose.

Sometimes I write blog posts in my head as I drive; is that strange? By the time I get home I am completely distracted and by the time I get to the computer I have no idea what it was I was going to write. I promise to try harder to be entertaining.

Halloween

We were planning on passing out candy at the door for Halloween, but we decided to go eat dinner with Nanny and Papa. She did wear her costume, bu the hood came off fairly quickly. When we got home our neighborhood was crazy. I think someone brought a busload of kids and dropped them off. Lee and I decided to walk to a couple of houses of people we knew would want to see the girl. She was a little tired, but never made a peep.
She loved chewing on her paws. It was a beautiful night. Strangely, since we never actually got to our door to pass out candy, I have a large bowl with 120 candy bars. Dang!
